Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio and Guadalupe Valley Partnering Up

We have some big news to share!

Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio and Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity have partnered up and consolidated operations. This expansion will allow us both to grow and serve even more hardworking families, in need of safe and affordable homes.

You may have questions about the logistic of this new partnership. We hope to answer all of your questions. We ask for your continued participation as we begin to envision a shared future—one where together we build more homes in Bexar and Guadalupe Counties than we could have done operating as two separate nonprofits.

Our Deep Roots

Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio grew from a small organization building one house every couple of years to one of the top five producing Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the country. In 2021, we celebrated 45 years and more than 1,220 families served. Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity also shares a rich history with more than 25 years of service and 32 homes and families served. We are proud to be united in our mission to build more homes for deserving families. The need for affordable homeownership in our shared community continues to grow exponentially. We’re certain together, with your support, we can take on this monumental challenge.

We’ve always believed in the power of partnership. We are grateful to you, our volunteers and donors. Your willingness to serve our mission over the years, truly makes this expansion possible.

Looking Ahead

More than a million people are expected to move to our area over the next twenty years.

Habitat will continue to build significantly in Bexar County, annually, while also working to acquire land in Guadalupe County to significantly increase our building of new homes, hopefully in the form of Guadalupe Valley’s first-ever large-scale neighborhood.

Our original goal remains the same… To make homeownership truly affordable for families in need. Poverty doesn’t fall neatly between county lines. By joining forces we can better fight for the families struggling in our region. We’re grateful for your support as we embark on this new chapter.

Our Name

At this point, we are NOT planning to change our name. Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity will operate as a chapter of Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio. The organizations will work together but will retain two distinct names, logos, and branding. However, sometimes you will receive joint correspondences from us featuring both of our names or logos.

Our Stores

You may be wondering how this will impact our stores. Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio runs three Home Centers and Guadalupe Valley operates one ReStore. We have consolidated operations and are now able to acquire more items in bulk. We hope our GV customers will notice more merchandise variety and new great deals! All of our stores will continue to be a great place to donate goods and/or to find everything you need for your next home improvement project.

Other Questions

We hope we’ve answered most of your questions here but we’ve also created a frequently asked questions page on our blog. You can link to it here. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We are here to serve our families and grow our mission. We’re excited to move forward together and we thank you for your support!
