WHO:
Seven hardworking families in need who have put in at least 300 hours of sweat equity to help build their own homes and the homes of their neighbors. They also attended homeownership classes to help them become successful homeowners.
WHY:
Working in partnership with families in need, Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio works to eliminate substandard housing in San Antonio in hopes that everyone will have a simple, decent and affordable place to live. The homes are sold to the homebuyers who qualify for the program on an interest-free, 20–25 year mortgage.
HFHSA partners with the families, volunteers and sponsors to make homeownership possible for families who could not otherwise afford it. These partnerships result in affordable homes with mortgage payments ranging from $375-425 per month. HFHSA is celebrating its 35th year.
Full-house sponsors for these homes include Bill Miller Bar-B-Q (In Honor of Louis Vance), The Najim Family Foundation, and H-E-B Tournament of Champions. A special “community build” house is sponsored by Toyota of Texas, Agudas Achim Men's Club, Concordia Lutheran Church, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and Temple Beth-El Brotherhood
