Habitat for Humanity in Urgent Need of Volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio is currently seeking weekday volunteers to help complete homes that are currently under construction.

“We need volunteers on Fridays and during the week to help us keep our homes on schedule,” said Sarah Arredondo, HFHSA Volunteer Coordinator. “Our volunteers are what keep us going.”

Arredondo explained that the winter months are often a difficult time for HFHSA.

“It’s harder for us to recruit volunteers during these months,” she said.

But, with ten homes currently under construction and 5 set to begin before the end of the month, volunteers are needed more than ever.

“We have families already working on and waiting on these homes. We want to finish them on time and keep the costs down for these hardworking families,” Arredondo explained.

Interested volunteers may call 210.223.5203 or visit www.habitatsa.org for more information. A volunteer orientation is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the HFHSA offices at 311 Probandt. The orientation is not mandatory, but helpful for first time construction crew volunteers. Construction experience is not necessary, Arredondo said.

“Please come out and help us. These families are counting on it,” she said.
